James Lavelle Jones

Mr. James Lavelle Jones, 56, of Gallatin, TN formerly of Paris died Thursday, August 22, 2024, in Gallatin.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

James Lavelle Jones was born June 3, 1968, in Paris, TN to James B. Jones and Gwendolyn Upchurch Jones.

The family was not expecting him to leave us so soon and he will be greatly missed. He was affectionately known by many as Lavelle, Peaches, and Big Bad Wolf. We will forever miss his laugh, big heart, and his love for his family.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Bird’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Whitlock, TN under Reverand Bryant. He was educated in the Henry County school system and was a hard worker at whatever he pursued.  He was employed by Dana Corporation, transporting/extraditing prison inmates throughout the US, and provided security services in the Nashville, TN area until his health failed.

Lavelle had several hobbies but particularly enjoyed attending tractor pulls in the surrounding areas and going to monster truck shows.  He was a fishing enthusiast, and you could find him enjoying a fishing hole at any moment day or night.  The Baltimore Ravens was his favorite football team.  He especially enjoyed sharing his love and passion of his hobbies with his nephews.

He was preceded in death by Parents – James Jones and Gwendolyn Upchurch Jones, Grandparents – Harl and Goldie McCuiston Jones, A.D. and Vonie Lovelace Upchurch, and Half-siblings – Regina Jones (infancy) and Ruth Ann Martin.

Lavelle will always be remembered and greatly missed by his two sisters Renita Jones and Ramona Jones Tharpe of Gallatin, TN, three nephews – Mekhi Hutcherson, Avery Tharpe, and Brycen Jones all of Gallatin, TN, and a host of Aunts, Cousins, extended family, and many friends.
