Mr. Roger Carver, 73, of Murfreesboro formerly of Union City died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Greater Bethel Church of God In Christ. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at McPhearson-Rawls Funeral Home. Also, on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Roger Carver, age 73, was born on July 16, 1950, in Jackson, Tennessee, son of the late Cary Carver Sr. and Maggie Lee Carver. Roger graduated from Merry High School in Jackson, Tennessee, where he thoroughly enjoyed his classmates and friends. At an early age, Roger accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. He was brought up to love and fear the Lord. Roger later relocated to Union City, Tennessee where he joined Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ. Roger was a faithful employee of Goodyear Tire Company until he retired after 30 years of dedicated service where he was affectionately known as “Roger Dodger”. Throughout his life, Roger dealt with his illness with a strong unassuming demeanor and loved to spend as much quality time with his loved ones as possible Roger’s calm and gentle nature endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his siblings Cary Carver, Jr., Martha Carver, John Eddie Carver, Charles Lee Carver and C.W. (Pal) Carver.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted and loving daughter, Robin Carver of Murfreesboro, TN, who was very dedicated to her Daddy. He also leaves Trist Parham, Temica Jones, and Andre Jones as children special in his heart. He leaves his bonus daughter, Natasha McCain, whom he loved dearly. Roger leaves his loving, caring and supportive brother Frank Carver (Renee) of St. Louis, MO and sisters Betty Lee Carver Jones of Grenada, MS, Louise Carver of OH, and Darlette Carver Samuels (Darryl) of Jackson, TN. Roger was very loving and attentive when it came to children and in addition to his two granddaughters, JaKayla Craig and Janiyah Young, he leaves several other grandchildren as well as his bonus granddaughter, Jakeya Robinson. Roger leaves many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss him very much.
