Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Tate Alston, 65, of Lebanon formerly of Union City died Monday, January 1, 2024.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
She was born on July 19, 1958, in Union City, Tennessee to Fennie Roy Smith and Eliza Mae Tate Smith. Cheryl led a God honoring life and always modeled a strong work ethic for her children. She dedicated 20+ years of service to the State of Tennessee as a devoted Youth Service Worker at the Tennessee School for the Blind. She also served as an Educational Assistant for Metro Nashville Public Schools. She was committed to supporting and encouraging her students through the years.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory one son, Ricky Tate of Union City, Tennessee; two daughters, Brittany Cox (Jarred) of Lebanon, Tennessee and Jasmine Tate of LaVergne, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Shanna Mitchell, TiErah Pressly, Jaslynn Tate-Cullum, Triston Tate, Zion Lewis, Journee Weatherspoon, Kamden King, and Camila Cox; five sisters, Linda Salaam (Ali) of Nashville, Tennessee, Rhonda Webb of St. Louis, Missouri, Glenda Robinson of Union City, Tennessee, Mary McElrath (Jerome) of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Tracey Smith Coble (Charles) of Lincoln, Alabama; three brothers, Dannie Smith (Deborah) of Union City, Tennessee, Davie Smith of Rainbow City, Alabama, and Trevor Smith (Nicki) of Fulton, Kentucky, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fennie Roy Smith and Eliza Mae Tate Smith .
