Whitney Daejon Hendrix, lovingly known as Daejon, was born on September 7, 2006, at Jackson Purchase Hospital to Whitney Hendrix and Racquel Hendrix. Though his time here was brief, the joy, love and light he carried will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew him.
Daejon carried himself with a gentle grace. He was polite, respectful, and always smiling, the kind of smile that could dissolve tension and soften even the hardest day. He paid attention to people in a way that made them feel seen, understood, and valued. To be in his presence was to feel welcome. Family and friends were the center of his world. He cherished quality moments, talks, riding around town, hugging on everyone, laughing with his friends and simply being close to the people he loved. His humor came naturally, a quick wit and easy laugh that filled rooms and made ordinary days unforgettable. If you were around him, you felt lighter.
Daejon attended Fulton County School. He graduated from FCHS in 2024 and continued his education at Murray State as a sophomore. Not only was he a scholar, but he was also a hard worker and dedicated employee of Hubs, Zaxby’s, and Walmart. A young man of faith, Daejon was a member of Turning Point Ministries, where he sang with the youth choir and briefly served on the usher board. He was a mentor to many of his peers and younger youth, leading not through words alone, but through how he lived steady, humble and kind.
Daejon leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Racquel Hendrix and his Father Whitney Hendrix: one brother; Braylan Hendrix and three sisters; Camille Hendrix, Taylan Hendrix (Hickman, KY) and Ja’Quasia Hendrix (Union City, TN). In addition to his siblings, five grandparents; Michael and Tonya McClure (Hickman, KY), Jamie Bogan (Nashville, TN), Mark and L’Tonya Harris (Hickman, KY), four great-grandparents; Bruce & Betty Ruth Elam, PJ Newberry and Mary Helen Marney, two godparents; Destinee Ivory and Kendrick Couch, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Daejon was preceded in death by his great-grandparents; Richard and Lizzie Hendrix and grandfather; Doyle Thompson and Elizabeth Newberry and great-great-great grandmother; Betty B. Pierce Reflections
