Mr. David Lanier, 59, of Clarksville formerly of Martin died Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at McCabe United Methodist Church.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.
David K. Lanier was born in Dickson, TN on October 31, 1963, to Ceola Thompson Belton and Albert E. Lanier.
David was the youngest of 3 siblings, born in Dickson, TN. David grew up in Martin, TN where he went to elementary and secondary school. While he didn’t graduate high school, he persevered to earn his GED in 1981.
David was a man of faith, having hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. He made every effort to live a life of service to others. David held a host of jobs that allowed him to help others. The last 12 years, David served as a Corporal at Tennessee Department of Corrections (Davidson County}. David found his work rewarding, it was an opportunity to pour encouragement, love and wisdom into the lives of men and women that others had written off as criminal or unworthy. David never missed an opportunity help anyone even a stranger.
David served as a Master Mason, Masonic Lodge Jacksonville #50 Free & Accepted Masons Prince Hall of South Fulton, TN
In his spare time David knew how to have fun, he had many hobbies, one of his favorites was riding with Street Fury. He gained many friends that became family.
David found true solace and joy was with his family and friends. David loved cook outs, get togethers, fishing, riding, movie nights, and football games it never really mattered what he was doing as long as those, he loved were near to him. David had a gift of keeping family together he worked tirelessly to make sure to host or attend as many family gatherings, graduations, games, and festivities as possible. David worked hard all of his life, but he loved even harder. He always took the time to speak encouragement and wisdom to those he came in contact with and never missed a chance to help where he could.
He was preceded in death by his father Albert E. Lanier, his sister Julia “Judy” Turner , and his mother Ceola Thompson Belton , grandmother Mary Nunley, and nephew Lamar (Skeeter) Hart.
David leaves to cherish his memories his wife Lucinda Lanier of Clarksville, TN, his sister Stephanine (Marvin) West of Martin, TN, his daughters Neikole (Victor) Flowers of Clarksville, TN, Natasha (Brett) Mullins-Nelson of Atlanta, Ga, Mariah Hawkins of Nashville, TN, Kamyiah West-Lanier of Clarksville, TN, his sons Johnathan Carrasquillo of Pensacola FL, Alec (Destiny) McMiller of Braselton Georgia. His grandchildren: Neveah, Jazmine, Victor (VJ), Nayla, Laykin Flowers, Miles Mullins, Maverick Nelson, Jamahni Harvell, Braylen and Alaiya McMiller; His Nephews and Nieces: Eric and Brian West, Reginald (Ebony) Clark, De’Sean Hart, Jordan Blincoe, Kendrick and Kayden Hart, Legacie West, Jazmine Hart, LaShaunda Early, Sheantail Long, Devin Gordon, Shyenda Sloan, Shakonna Carpenter, Jasmene, Aaston, and Alan Eubanks, Patrick Beatty, Timothy Long and a host of other relatives and friends who love him dearly.
