Earnestine Avent

August 24, 1938 — December 7, 2025

Mayfield, KY

Mrs. Earnestine Avent, 87, of Mayfield, died Sunday, December 6, 2025, at her home.

Services will be held at noon on Saturday December 20. 2025, New Visions Ministries. Interment will be held in Mayfield Memory Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a. m. on Saturday at the church.

Earnestine Avent, lovingly known as “TT” or “Earnie” by her family and co-workers, was born to the late Jessie and Lealer Buntyn.

TT lived a life rooted in service, devotion, and joy. She was a faithful member of New Vision Ministries, where she served her Lord and Savior wholeheartedly. Her faith guided her daily life and shone through the love she poured into her family, friends, and community.

During her teenage years, Earnestine attended and proudly graduated from Whitehaven High School, where she began forming the strong values of discipline, responsibility, and perseverance that would guide her throughout her life.

In 1960, Earnestine married the love of her life, Robert Avent, and together they shared one child, Billy Ray Avent. Family meant everything to TT, and she lived each day making sure those she loved felt cared for and supported.

A true example of dedication and hard work, TT was employed at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Kentucky, where she faithfully worked for 47 years until her retirement in January 2025. Her work ethic was unmatched, and she took pride in everything she did.

TT found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid cook, loved yard work of any kind, and could often be found riding her lawnmower or hanging clothes on the clothesline. She enjoyed shopping at Bealls, traveling with her niece Isabella, and never passed up a trip to Burger King for her signature sandwich—a Whopper.

Earnestine lived her life to the fullest, bringing love, laughter, and warmth to everyone she encountered. Her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Avent; her son, Billy Avent; her parents, Jessie and Lealer Buntyn-Morris; and her siblings, Leopolyer Buntyn (Estella), John Lee Buntyn, Essie Mae Hussey (Elmo), Mary Lucile Cavitt, Jessie Buntyn, Fannie Hussey, and LenaMae and Rogers Buntyn.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Phyllis Johnson of Jackson, Tennessee; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Buntyn of Xenia, Ohio, and John Henry Buntyn of Breckinridge, Kentucky; a special great-niece, Isabella Hussey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
