Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenlea Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at the church.
She was born on June 11, 1956, to the late Joseph Brown, Sr. and Tempie Ann Brown.
Joann received her education in the Fulton County School System. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and later united with New Beginnings Ministries, where she nurtured her faith and fellowship. She was employed at Tyson Foods in Union City, Tennessee, where she worked faithfully until her health began to fail.
Joann was loved by everyone who knew her. She was known for her competitive spirit, especially around the table, whether playing Tunk or dominoes, she was always a tough opponent and hard to defeat. Beyond her playful competitiveness, Joann had a heart of gold. She was generous, welcoming, and never hesitated to open her doors to family, friends, and anyone in need
She was a devoted and loving mother to her children: Shundal Brown, Nekkiel Brown, Ronesia (Jewel) Martin, Jowyne Brown, and Lee Hendrix. Joann was also a proud and devoted grandmother to eleven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to six great grandchildren, all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride in her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving siblings: John (Teri) Harris, Earlene Saxton, Darlene (Pastor Anthony) Johnson, Diane (Mike) Taylor, Daisy Mae Harris, Vicki Mae Dickerson, and Linda Sue Harris.
Joann was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Brown, Jr. and J.L. Brown, and two sisters, Annie Mae Brown-Pledge and Carolyn Warlick.
Joann will truly be missed. Her laughter, love, faith, and welcoming spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her
