Joe Edward Teague

Mr. Joe Edward Teague, 69, of Paris died Sunday, September 28, 2025, Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday at the church.

Joe Edward Teague made his debut into this world on November 28, 1955, in Springville, Tennessee. On September 28, 2025, he peacefully entered eternal rest and was reunited with his parents, Horace and Luna M. Crawley Teague; his brother, Darrell Teague; his sister, Joreen Teague; and his grandparents, Ned and Louise Teague, who all preceded him in death. He was the fourth of five children born to this loving family.

Joe confessed Christ at an early age and united with Spring Creek Baptist Church. He graduated from Henry County High School in 1973, where he played basketball and proudly participated in the band. After attending Tennessee State University for two years, Joe decided to pursue a different path and began his lifelong career with the CSX Railroad Company. For 40 years, he served faithfully and diligently as an engineer conductor, commuting from Paris to Nashville each night. Upon his retirement, during his exit interview, he was asked, “Why did you stay with us for 40 years?” Joe proudly replied, “I always wanted to follow in my grandfather’s footsteps. He was with the railroad for 35 years.” His dedication and loyalty spoke volumes about his character.

Joe was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Kathy Teague. Together, they shared 47 beautiful years. From this union, they were blessed with one son, Sidney Lamar Teague, and later a granddaughter, Kaylei Diamond Teague, whom he cherished deeply. Joe’s love for his family was unmatched, and he will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Joe’s life was enriched by his two loving sisters, Muriel Patricia (Douglas) Pointer and Clairene Teague Tibbs, with whom he shared a bond filled with laughter, affection, and the daily words, “I love you more.” He also leaves behind his brothers, Paul (Sandy) Williams and Timothy Williams; his aunt, Minister Argie Virginia Tharpe; his nephews, Christopher (Jennie) Pointer; nieces, Selena Rogers, Amanda (Damien) Johnson, and Angela Teague Thomas; along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, godson, Frank Allen, and many special friends who became family.

Joe had a zest for life and a personality that drew people in. Known for his “Gift of Gab,” he never met a stranger and delighted in friendly debates about sports, education, politics, and life in general. He enjoyed reading, dancing, listening to music, and being active in his community. His weekly meals with dear friends, contagious smile, and warm presence will be dearly missed. Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. Though he is gone from our sight, his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
