Rodney Alley

Mr. Rodney Alley, 63, of Murfreesboro formerly of Martin died Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Services will be held at noon on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in South Fulton. Interment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Mr. Rodney Alley was born on June 22, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Joseph Alley and Bettye Sisson-Alley. At the age of 7, he and his family moved from Chicago and relocated to Martin, TN. He was the youngest of his four siblings.

He attended Martin Elementary and Westview High school, until he moved to Johnson City, TN, and there continued his education at Science Hill High school and Tri-Cities State Technical Institute; where he acquired a Degree in Business Technology-Data Processing.

Rodney accepted Christ at Friendship Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN. With his sparkling personality and contagious smile, he became a beacon of light there and was loved by the congregation and community. After moving back to Martin, he later joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in South Fulton, TN. While a member there, he supported the development of a potential church computer lab by refurbishing several donated computers and assisted with his technological expertise when needed.

He was employed with MTD in Martin, TN and Northwest TN Development District-Transportation Division then later moved to Memphis, TN where he was employed with St. Francis Hospital as Computer Technician. He later became a commercial truck driver.

He has two daughters, Jese` Burrow and Alyssa Alley. Rodney was his own mechanic; he loved “working under the hood” of his automobiles. You could see him at any time with the hood of his car hatched up and him underneath doing something to his car. He loved his family but because of his employment as a truck driver, he often missed family gatherings and Family Reunions. When he called his mother on the telephone, she would answer, and he would say, “What’s up Mom, how are you doing”, never wanting to complain too much about a hectic day or how he was feeling but ultimately just wanted to check in and let mom know he was okay.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Alley, and grandparents, Mary Ruth Alley and Willie Belle Sisson.

Rodney leaves to cherish his memory; his daughters, Jese Burrow, Clarksville, TN; and Alyssa Alley, Pine Bluff, AR; his siblings, Brothers, Rev. Michael Alley, Sr. (Rhonda), Murfreesboro, TN, Reginald Alley (Laynette), Murfreesboro, TN; Sister, Andrea Denise Harris, Murfreesboro, TN; his mother, Bettye Thomas (William), Martin, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunt, Beatrice Wilcox, South Fulton, TN and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Memories of our beloved Rodney will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
