Gary Phelps

Gary Neil Phelps a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2026, in McKenzie, Tennessee. Born May 26, 1963, in Obion County, TN. Gary was cherished for his fun-loving spirit and his ability to bring joy to those him He had a for making friends easily with his joking and zest for life.

Gary was known for his steadfast determination and bit of stubbornness that brought laughter and light-hearted debates among his family and friends. A devoted sports fan, he particularly loved watching football and basketball games, reveling in the camaraderie these activities brought Gary especially valued the time spent with his family creating lasting memories gatherings, particularly family homecomings in August.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Darlene Dunaway Phelps; stepchildren, Keith Miller and Jessica Thomas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will continue to forward legacy of love and laughter.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Gladys Dysart Phelps and his brothers, Bobby Joe and Michael Phelps.

A visitation will be held at McCabe United Methodist Church located at 215 Hyndsver Road, Martin, TN, on March 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at the same location 12:00 pm.
